1. Illnesses
One of the reasons it is hard to take care of seniors, sometimes even harder than taking care of kids is the fact that they are weak and have a lot of illnesses. The health conditions are pretty sensitive and they are very vulnerable at this point in their lives. You should know all of their ailments. Study the symptoms and familiarize yourself with the treatments. Keep a list of the medicines that they have to take on schedule and make sure that they take them on the dot. It is also good to study the consequences or complications of their problems just in case of emergency situations.

2. Number of the nearest hospital
Although 911 will suffice, it is also handy to get the number of the nearest hospital or the number of the doctor that is treating them. This will come in handy when there is an emergency situation or when you need to ask a question about their health condition.

3. Diet
Unlike young people, seniors cannot eat everything. They have certain dietary plans that they should follow. This is especially true for those who have hypertension or those that are diabetic or those that are extremely allergic to something. At their age, the food that they eat could kill them. It may lead to a heart attack or a complication. If you are in senior care, you should have a list of the foods that they should not eat.

4. Favorite foods or activities
Every elderly person will have some foods or activities that they are partial to. This will come in handy at times when your charge is having a temper tantrum. And they will! Senior care is actually much like infant and toddler care. It requires a lot of patient, a little cajoling and a handy set of techniques that are surefire hits with them.
